I originally come from traditional photography and discovered CG about two
years ago. I quickly became addicted to the complete freedom it provides. I
mainly use Blender and ZBrush for modeling but I had been struggling to find the
perfect rendering solution until I was given the chance to beta-test the
standalone version Vray, currently under development, using Andrey Izrantsev's
great export script for Blender. I find Vray offers the best combination of
speed and realism out there and I'm very much looking forward to the release of
the commercial version. Andrey's final script will also unlock many of the
features of Vray we currently don't have access to from Blender.
Currently based in Berlin, Germany, I try to share my time between my own
projects and some freelance commercial work. Working with Blender as my central
tool, I can keep my fixed costs reasonably low, which allows me to focus only on
the commercial projects I find interesting. So far, I've worked mainly in the
architectural and product visualization area, doing interiors and exteriors for
developers and furniture models for manufacturers. Together with my associate in
the US, we've also been building a reasonably large commercial collection of
high-definition 3D furniture and architectural textures and we rely almost
exclusively on Vray to produce the marketing renders.
