New V-Ray Denoiser

Automatically remove noise and cut render times by up to 50% with the new V-Ray Denoiser. V-Ray's denoising technology is non-destructive, giving you the original render and the denoised version for even more control in post. Denoising can be used progressively while rendering or after rendering, with support for animation and enhanced blending between frames with the standalone denoiser tool.

Works with 3ds Max 2017

V-Ray 3.4 adds support for 3ds Max 2017 including initial support for the new Physical Material and HiDPI scaling of the V-Ray Frame Buffer. V-Ray RT now supports MultiTile and ColorMap.

Progressive Rendering
The new Progressive Production Renderer is built on the same path tracing technology as V-Ray RT and it is a simple, intuitive solution for any scene. The Progressive Renderer is compatible with all V-Ray production features, including Irradiance, Light Cache, SSS, Render Elements, etc.

V-Ray 3.4 introduces a significantly optimized ray tracing core to speed up calculations for Brute Force GI, Progressive Path Tracing, Reflections, Refractions, and more. Depending on scene complexity, users are reporting speed increases up to 5X.

Advanced V-Ray Frame Buffer
Consistent color output is essential to artists’ workflows. V-Ray 3.4 has been expanded to utilize a variety of color definitions including LUTs (.cube), ICC Profiles (.icc), and OpenColorIO (.ocio). By default V-Ray 3.4 is set up for linear workflow, making it easier to ensure reliable, accurate colors.

Render Mask
Render Mask uses an object selection, include/ exclude list, or texture map to control the exact pixels to be rendered.

Faster Hair
V-Ray 3.4 introduces faster hair rendering speeds (up to 15x) and view-dependent tessellation that automatically smoothes hair curves.

Ray Traced SSS
Improved Subsurface Scattering is offered, including options for object-based and ray traced illumination.

Max Ray Intensity
Max Ray Intensity clamps secondary rays to remove noise generated by very bright sources. This removes artifacts while retaining dynamic range.

VRmats (formerly Vismats) are universal V-Ray Shaders for use across multiple applications. For example a VRmat material may be created in V-Ray for 3ds Max and transferred directly to V-Ray for Maya.

  • Intel® Pentium® 4 (64bit) or equivalent AMD® 64 processor with SSE2 technology or newer;
  • 4 GB RAM (8 GB or higher recommended).

V-Ray Licensing Dongle (Hardware Key)

While the software itself is distributed via download, to provide optimum security, reliability, and portability, V-Ray 3.4 for 3ds Max / Design requires a hardware key to license the software. This hardware security key safely protects the V-Ray License from computer malfunctions, routine hardware maintenance, and equipment changes; and it provides users the ability to use V-Ray on multiple machines.

It is important to note that the hardware key is not a node-locked device. The V-Ray License Server is a floating license system, allowing multiple users to check out a license up to the maximum concurrent number of licenses available.

The licensing dongle plugs into one of your computer's USB slots. Please be aware that while the licensing dongle may look like a USB flash drive, it does not function as such and will not display as a drive within your system.

Floating / Network License Information:

  V-Ray 3.4 for 3ds Max / Design licenses can be configured as floating / network licenses at no additional charge with the included V-Ray license server software. When purchasing from this product page, the option of a floating / network license is automatically included.

License Configuration:

  If you are purchasing multiple licenses, you have the option to have all licenses on a single licensing dongle. This is preferable if you plan to configure your licenses as floating / network licenses using the included V-Ray license server software since only a single USB slot will be needed.

However, if you prefer to install each license as a standalone installation on each computer, you have the option to have each license on a separate licensing dongle.

Please note: having each license on a separate licensing dongle must be determined prior to order completion. Additional licensing dongles after order completion requires an additional fee.

Lastly, if you already have a licensing dongle, you can add your newly purchased license to your existing licensing dongle. Licenses can also be mixed/added amongst the various V-Ray flavors such as V-Ray for Maya, V-Ray for SketchUp, V-Ray for Rhino and V-Ray for MODO.
