New V-Ray Denoiser

Removes noise automatically, cutting your render times by up to 50% with GPU acceleration. V-Ray’s denoising technology is non-destructive, giving you the original render and the denoised version for even more control in post. Denoising can be used progressively while rendering or after rendering, with support for animation and enhanced blending between frames with the standalone denoiser tool.

Works with Maya 2017

V-Ray 3.4 now supports the new render layers and motion graphics tools in Maya 2017.

Volume Rendering

GGX Microfacet BRDF

VRayCurvature

The VRayCurvature texture can be used to sample the curvature of an underlying mesh.

VRayDistanceTex

VRayDistanceTex is procedural texture that can return a specified color based on a point's distance to an object or group of objects.

Distributed Rendering



Advanced Controls for Parallel Rendering

Distributed Rendering allows artists to use multiple computers working in parallel to render a single image.

V-Ray 3.4 adds the ability to automatically transfer and cache scene assets to each distributed rendering host. This makes it easier to ensure each node is rendering the proper data. Artists can now choose to include or exclude their local machine from distributed rendering and specify a limit to the number of computers used for DR.

Distributed Rendering is supported for V-Ray and V-Ray RT.

V-Ray Licensing Dongle (Hardware Key)

While the software itself is distributed via download, to provide optimum security, reliability, and portability, V-Ray 3.4 for Maya requires a hardware key to license the software. This hardware security key safely protects the V-Ray License from computer malfunctions, routine hardware maintenance, and equipment changes; and it provides users the ability to use V-Ray on multiple machines.

It is important to note that the hardware key is not a node-locked device. The V-Ray License Server is a floating license system, allowing multiple users to check out a license up to the maximum concurrent number of licenses available.

The licensing dongle plugs into one of your computer's USB slots. Please be aware that while the licensing dongle may look like a USB flash drive, it does not function as such and will not display as a drive within your system.


Floating / Network License Information:

  V-Ray 3.4 for Maya licenses can be configured as floating / network licenses at no additional charge with the included V-Ray license server software. When purchasing from this product page, the option of a floating / network license is automatically included.

License Configuration:

  If you are purchasing multiple licenses, you have the option to have all licenses on a single licensing dongle. This is preferable if you plan to configure your licenses as floating / network licenses using the included V-Ray license server software since only a single USB slot will be needed.

However, if you prefer to install each license as a standalone installation on each computer, you have the option to have each license on a separate licensing dongle.

Please note: having each license on a separate licensing dongle must be determined prior to order completion. Additional licensing dongles after order completion requires an additional fee.

Lastly, if you already have a licensing dongle, you can add your newly purchased license to your existing licensing dongle. Licenses can also be mixed/added amongst the various V-Ray flavors such as V-Ray for 3ds Max / Design, V-Ray for SketchUp, V-Ray for Rhino and V-Ray for MODO.
